Puerto Aventuras is on its way to establishing a unique identity as a tourist destination. The community's founder, Román Rivera Torres, acknowledges that while progress is being made, the journey to becoming a municipality is far from over. The tourist area of this enclave is home to about 10,000 people, while the support area, initially intended for 8,000 residents, now accommodates over 39,000.
Rivera Torres highlights the importance of learning from past urbanization errors, such as those made in Acapulco. He emphasizes the need to distinguish between tourist and urban areas. Additionally, he insists that public services must adapt to the rapid population growth in Puerto Aventuras to promote balanced and sustainable development.
The aim is not just to strengthen the infrastructure, but also to position Puerto Aventuras as a model of harmonious coexistence between tourism and the quality of life of its residents.
