Puerto Aventuras, Quintana Roo — The local government of Puerto Aventuras has requested funding from the Municipal Planning and Development Council (Coplademun) for 2026 to continue road paving projects, install street lighting, and add at least two more traffic signals at problematic intersections to improve mobility in the area.
Mayor Gilberto Gómez Martínez said one of the key projects submitted for paving and lighting is the expansion of Chicozapote Avenue, which connects Puerta del Sol Boulevard to Guayas Street, the location of the municipal cemetery.
Another submitted project is the expansion of the town hall building, as the current space is no longer sufficient for serving residents.
The mayor noted that the community already has two traffic signals, but peak-hour traffic creates chaos, prompting plans for an additional signal to manage the growing vehicle traffic.
The area of Puerto Maya is experiencing the most growth due to its social housing developments, requiring a new avenue to connect the two main roads surrounding the subdivision to improve mobility.
