Cancún, Mexico — A rollover accident occurred on the Cancún–Puerto Morelos highway near the Royalton Hotel, resulting in material damage but no injuries, according to a preliminary report. The vehicle involved belongs to the public transport service of the Sindicato Lázaro Cárdenas del Río, based in Playa del Carmen, and was abandoned at the scene following the incident.
The taxi, identified with the unit number 3033, was left overturned with its wheels in the air, off the asphalt pavement and within the undergrowth. Information provided by officers from the State Highway Police indicates that the driver is presumed to have lost control of the vehicle and veered off the road, leaving the damaged unit at the site.
Despite the severity of the incident, no injured persons were reported, either inside or in the vicinity of the transport vehicle. Authorities have launched an investigation to determine the exact causes of the accident and the identity of the driver, who is believed to have fled the scene after the rollover.
Authorities are issuing a strong call to the transport union to prioritize road safety, reminding them that they transport human lives and that negligent driving puts third parties at risk.
