Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo — Valeria Rinderstma, president of the Riviera Maya chapter of the Mexican Association of Women Business Owners (AMEXME), has called on local entrepreneurs to integrate their security cameras into the C4 surveillance network to enhance public safety.
Addressing Concerns and Encouraging Participation
While many business owners in Playa del Carmen have already connected their cameras to the C4 system, some remain hesitant due to lingering concerns. Rinderstma emphasized the need for dialogue with the private sector to address these reservations.
AMEXME is actively working with its members who have expressed doubts about the initiative. The association is focusing on two key objectives: persuading businesswomen with existing cameras to join the network and assisting those who lack the necessary equipment.
Rinderstma stressed the importance of civil society’s involvement in improving security and other aspects of life in Playa del Carmen.
Municipal Efforts to Strengthen Security
Playa del Carmen Mayor Estefanía Mercado has repeatedly urged business owners to link their surveillance systems to the C4 network, aiming to bolster street-level monitoring. Mercado has emphasized the need for collaboration between authorities and citizens to create a safer environment for residents and tourists alike.
Related Developments
The Mercado administration has made unprecedented investments in public safety, including the acquisition of patrol vehicles, officer training, and the deployment of a municipal helicopter. The helicopter has already been utilized in life-saving operations beyond the city’s borders.
The push for expanded surveillance comes as part of broader efforts to reinforce security infrastructure in the region.
