Mérida, Yucatán — The seventh edition of Mérida Restaurant Week 2025 was officially presented with the participation of state authorities, municipal authorities, and business leaders, who highlighted the economic, tourist, and social impact of this event, which will take place from September 29 to October 5 in the capital and in various municipalities of Yucatán.
Claudia González Góngora, president of the National Chamber of the Restaurant and Seasoned Food Industry (Canirac) Yucatán and the Business Coordinating Council (CCE), emphasized that this program has become established as “a date awaited by both the gastronomic sector and the public, who each year take advantage of it to discover new culinary experiences.”
She explained that, in this edition, more than 220 restaurants will offer complete menus at accessible prices of 199, 299, and 499 pesos, with options that include an appetizer, main course, drink, and dessert. Furthermore, the official website www.meridarestaurant.com was presented, which will allow users to consult the list of participating restaurants, their menus, hours, location, and social media.
González Góngora highlighted that the restaurant industry “is a vital economic engine that generates thousands of direct and indirect jobs and benefits the entire productive chain, from farmers and fishermen to suppliers and transporters.”
For his part, Ermilo Barrera Novelo, head of the Secretariat of Economy and Labor of Yucatán, pointed out that the food and beverage sector has more than 18 thousand economic units and close to 15 thousand formal jobs in the state, positioning itself as the seventh largest generator of employment.
“This dynamism reflects the strength of Yucatecan capital, which drives our companies and consolidates a sector in constant growth,” he stated.
Likewise, Barrera emphasized the importance of digitalization, financing programs, and the promotion of gastronomy as key tools to strengthen the sector.
In her speech, the mayor of Mérida, Cecilia Patrón Laviada, celebrated that gastronomy is today an emblem of the city, recognized as part of the UNESCO Creative Cities Network.
“We Meridans like the table, we like to share, and this event not only gives us identity, but it also drives the circular economy, benefiting waiters, cooks, suppliers, and many Meridan families,” she assured.
Patrón Laviada also highlighted the joint work with the business sector and the state government to make Mérida a city that promotes the enjoyment of its public spaces and community coexistence.
Finally, it was highlighted that, with this new edition, Mérida Restaurant Week confirms its role as one of the most solid platforms for gastronomic promotion, economic development, and the strengthening of tourism in Yucatán.
