Costa Mujeres, Quintana Roo — The second edition of the Premier Padel Cancún P2 tournament concluded, drawing over 140 elite players and a strong turnout of fans, reinforcing Quintana Roo’s position as a key destination for world-class sporting events.
During the awards ceremony, Governor Mara Lezama Espinosa highlighted the tournament’s impact on sports, tourism, and the economy, noting the presence of top-ranked players in both men’s and women’s categories.
The event brought together athletes from at least 10 countries, including Spain, Argentina, Mexico, Italy, France, Portugal, Brazil, Ecuador, Venezuela, and the United Arab Emirates, boosting the international profile of the Mexican Caribbean.
The tournament also gained global exposure, broadcast in over 240 countries through platforms like ESPN, Red Bull TV, and streaming services, reaching millions of viewers worldwide.
Over three days of competition, more than 2,000 attendees watched matches in Costa Mujeres, generating economic activity and dynamism in the region’s tourism sector.
In the women’s category, Spain’s Gemma Triay and Argentina’s Delfina Brea claimed the championship, while in the men’s category, Spain’s Arturo Coello and Argentina’s Agustín Tapia were crowned champions, all holding the world number one ranking.
Governor Lezama congratulated the winners and acknowledged all competitors, as well as the enthusiastic crowd that turned the tournament into a true sports celebration.
Also present at the ceremony were Senator Eugenio Segura Vázquez, Premier Padel General Director David Serraima, Cancún Tournament Director Jorge Mañe Rendón, and International Padel Federation President Luigi Carraro.
