Pregnant Teenager Shot and Injured in Chetumal

Chetumal, Quintana Roo — A 15-year-old pregnant girl sustained a gunshot wound to her right shoulder on Tuesday afternoon, prompting a response from emergency services and police.

The incident occurred around noon at the facilities of the Ministerial Police, according to preliminary information. Investigative police requested medical assistance after discovering the teenager with what appeared to be a firearm injury.

Red Cross paramedics from unit QR-036 arrived at the scene and confirmed the girl was pregnant in addition to having the shoulder wound. After stabilizing her condition, they transported her to Chetumal General Hospital under yellow code status, indicating she was in serious but stable condition.

The teenager was admitted to the hospital for specialized medical care while authorities continue investigating the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
