Cancún, Quintana Roo — A traffic accident recorded yesterday afternoon on Niños Héroes Avenue, at the height of superblock 201 in Cancún, left one injured person who required hospital transport.
The incident involved a State Police patrol and a private vehicle that was properly parked in the area, according to initial reports from authorities.
How Did the Accident Happen?
The events were recorded shortly after 4:00 p.m., when the police unit was traveling on that roadway, in the vicinity of the Haciendas del Caribe subdivision. For reasons that are still under investigation, the patrol driver lost control of the vehicle and directly impacted a parked pickup truck.
At that moment, the owner of the private vehicle was performing cleaning tasks, so he was injured after the impact, as authorities on site reported.
Why Was One Person Injured?
As a consequence of the crash, the citizen presented various injuries, making the intervention of emergency services necessary.
Paramedics arrived at the site and, after an initial assessment, determined his transfer to a general hospital to receive specialized medical attention. So far, no official information has been provided regarding the severity of his health condition.
The authorities have not confirmed whether the patrol was heading to attend to an emergency report at the time of the accident.
Traffic officers and specialized experts went to the location to carry out the corresponding investigation, gather evidence, and determine responsibilities. Both involved units were removed from the public road and taken to an impound lot while investigations continue.
The competent authorities indicated that it will be through expert analysis and official reports that the responsibility of the patrol driver will be determined, as well as the possible administrative or legal sanctions that could arise from the incident.
The case will remain open until the corresponding procedures are concluded, in accordance with current traffic and road safety protocols.
