Cancún, Mexico — Police officers detained a 25-year-old man on Friday who is suspected of setting fire to the restaurant “La Palapita” earlier that morning, located on Kabah Avenue in this city.
According to initial reports, Municipal Police officers conducting preventive patrols detected the individual disturbing public order.
When they approached to inform him that his behavior constituted an administrative violation, the individual reacted aggressively, shouting insults and refusing to comply with instructions.
The situation escalated when the man, identified as Luis Antonio “N”, allegedly attempted to physically assault the officers, leading to his immediate arrest for disobedience and resistance.
After being taken into custody, he was turned over to the State Attorney General’s Office, where his legal status will be determined while authorities investigate his possible connection to the fire that occurred hours earlier at that location in the city.
The case remains under investigation, and it is expected that in the coming hours it will be clarified whether the detainee had any direct involvement in the incident that caused damage to La Palapita restaurant.
