Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo – The Roadside Assistance Unit, implemented as a pilot program in Playa del Carmen, has provided 63 free services to citizens since its launch in early December, as part of the Guadalupe-Reyes Holiday Operation.
This initiative, promoted by the municipal government led by Mayor Estefanía Mercado through the Secretariat of Citizen Security, aims to reinforce road safety and improve assistance to drivers during the holiday season, a period of high vehicular mobility.
The Secretary of Citizen Security, Carlos Montesinos García, highlighted that the unit provides immediate attention to incidents on public roads, contributing to accident prevention, traffic flow improvement, and risk reduction.
Among the free services offered are assistance for minor mechanical failures, traffic incident flagging, tire changes, support for lack of fuel, and jump-starts. Authorities prioritize the safety of motorists, pedestrians, and visitors.
The Roadside Assistance Unit will operate 24 hours a day on dates of high influx, including December 31, to ensure continuous attention. To request support, citizens can contact the emergency number 911, and they are urged to drive with caution and respect traffic regulations.
