Playa del Carmen — Approximately 200 people joined the national march this afternoon in Playa del Carmen, convened by the "Generation Z" collective. The demonstration was held in memory of the former mayor of Uruapan, Michoacán, Carlos Manzo, and to demand safety and an end to corruption.
Wearing straw hats and white t-shirts and carrying signs, the protesters gathered at 4:00 p.m. at Parque Fundadores. From there, they marched toward Plaza 28 de Julio, located at the site of the old Municipal Palace in downtown Playa del Carmen.
The demonstrators chanted slogans such as "Carlos didn't die, Morena killed him," "Morena out," and "Claudia, listen, the people are in the struggle," as they proceeded along Quinta Avenida and later along calles 8 and 20.
Once at Plaza 28 de Julio, the protesters demanded justice in the face of the wave of violence and disappearances that have hit the country. One of the organizers thanked the support received from civil associations and families to carry out this march.
Furthermore, the organizer specified that the movement sought to be open to all citizens, with the goal of expressing society's sentiment regarding the violence and lack of action from state and federal governments.
Subsequently, the protesters returned to Parque Fundadores, where they chanted slogans against the authorities and displayed their signs, most of which contained messages against Morena. As of the 6:00 p.m. cutoff for this edition, the demonstration was still continuing, with no notable incidents to report.
