Playa del Carmen, Mexico — The Navidad Mágica program brought together thousands of Playa del Carmen families and visitors of various nationalities, establishing itself as one of the most successful December celebrations in the recent history of Playa del Carmen, highlighted Ernesto Cuéllar, director of the Municipal Institute of Culture and the Arts (IMCAS).
He noted that, during four consecutive weekends, the heart of the city transformed into a space for community, culture, and family entertainment, featuring the largest ice rink in Quintana Roo, a wide offering of local gastronomy, and a high-level artistic lineup designed for audiences of all ages.
One of the most anticipated moments, he added, was the Navidad Mágica parade, which traveled along the emblematic Quinta Avenida and culminated at the amphitheater of Plaza 28 de Julio, attracting thousands of attendees.
The broad citizen participation, as well as the event’s dissemination on social media, reaffirmed Playa del Carmen’s positioning as a reference tourist destination at the national and international level.
Throughout 15 nights of celebration, citizens and tourists shared expressions of enthusiasm such as: “The children’s shows were extraordinary,” “The Christmas stages were ideal for taking photos,” “The ice rink was an incredible experience,” and “We didn’t imagine an event of this quality.”
Regarding security, the Secretariat of Citizen Security implemented a preventive and proximity operation in the tourist zone and at Plaza 28 de Julio, with foot patrols and the coordinated deployment of Social Proximity personnel, as well as the Tourist and Preventive Police, ensuring a safe environment for attending families.
Cuéllar reported that more than 400 artists participated in the Navidad Mágica program, generating spaces of joy, community, and family recreation, as part of the priorities of the municipal government headed by Mayor Estefanía Mercado.
Likewise, merchants from the gastronomic sector recognized the positive public response. “We appreciate the support of this government, which from day one has promoted the promotion of our food, drinks, and crafts,” they expressed. (Source: Playa del Carmen City Council)
