1,000 Scholarships for Adults Over 25 in Playa del Carmen

Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo — The Solidaridad Municipal Government, led by Mayor Estefanía Mercado, announced today the launch of an initiative offering one thousand scholarships covering 50% of tuition costs for individuals aged 25 and older seeking to earn a university degree.

Partnership for Educational Access

The program is the result of a collaboration between the Playa del Carmen government, the Universidad de la Mujer Quintanarroense (UMQ), and the Red Educativa México. To qualify, applicants must be at least 25 years old, provide proof of a minimum of three years of work experience, and currently reside in Quintana Roo.

The scholarship covers a selection of career paths designed to align with labor market demands, including:

  • Pedagogy
  • Public Administration
  • Law
  • Accounting
  • General Administration
  • Industrial Engineering
  • Systems Engineering

Flexible Online Learning Model

All programs will be delivered entirely online, allowing students to balance academic pursuits with professional and personal responsibilities. In addition to the 50% tuition reduction, beneficiaries will receive access to a basic English module focused on customer service—a critical skill in the region’s tourism-driven economy—as well as a masterclass on gender-based violence prevention, underscoring the program’s holistic approach.
