Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo — The Playa del Carmen City Council approved today, by unanimous vote, the donation of a plot of land to the Secretary of Well-being of the State of Quintana Roo for the construction of the social project "Faro" (Factory of Arts and Trades). The approval occurred during the Fourteenth Extraordinary Session.

The agreement authorizes the decommissioning and gratuitous donation of a municipal private domain property to the Government of the State of Quintana Roo, which will allow for the development of the project for the benefit of the Playa del Carmen community.

The session was led by the first council member, Milagros Álvarez, representing municipal president Estefanía Mercado. It was explained that the property is located on Avenida Alondra, Block 01, Lot 02, between Avenidas Chiich and Alondra in the "El Edén" subdivision. The total surface area of the plot is 8,778.91 square meters.

The land will be allocated as follows: 5,780 square meters for the construction and operation of the "Faro" center, which will promote artistic, cultural, and labor development among citizens; and 2,998.91 square meters for public social use.

The City Council established that, should the construction on the portion designated for public use not have begun by the end of the current municipal administration, that portion of the land will be automatically reincorporated into the municipal assets without the need for additional procedures.

Within this framework, the City Council also designated municipal president Estefanía Mercado and the heads of the Legal Department, Treasury, and Office of the Mayor to represent the municipality in signing the corresponding legal instruments.

Furthermore, the legal and administrative areas of the City Council were ordered to carry out the necessary procedures to finalize the subdivision and formalization of the donation.

The agreement, which received favorable comments from council members Alma Angelina Rodríguez, Orlando Muñoz, José Luis Toledo, and Fernando Muñoz, will be published in the Official Newspaper of the State of Quintana Roo and in the Municipal Gazette of Playa del Carmen, thereby reinforcing the transparency and legality of the process.

With this action, the Government of Playa del Carmen advances its commitment to strengthening social infrastructure that fosters culture, arts, and social well-being for the community.
