Playa del Carmen, Mexico — The Municipal Planning Committee for Development (Coplademun) has approved the Third Modification to the 2025 Annual Operating Program (POA), allocating over 423 million pesos to prioritize urban infrastructure, public safety, social services, and healthcare. The decision was made during an extraordinary session held at the "Leona Vicario" auditorium.

Reallocation Focused on Community Needs

Rolando Méndez Navarro, General Coordinator of Coplademun, presented the rationale for the modification on behalf of Mayor Estefanía Mercado. "This financial restructuring reflects our administration’s commitment to the well-being, safety, and quality of life for Playa del Carmen residents. Every peso is directed toward addressing real needs and building a stronger, safer, and more dignified municipality," Méndez Navarro stated.

The approved modification totals 423,635,710.20 pesos, sourced from the Municipal Strengthening Fund (Fortamun), the Social Infrastructure Fund (Faismun), and 2025 fiscal resources. Key projects include:

  • Rehabilitation of the Colosio Health Center
  • Construction and maintenance of absorption wells
  • Repaving of the Arco Vial roadway
  • Improvements to the "El Petén" childcare facility

Additional priority initiatives encompass street repaving in Puerto Aventuras, renovations to Avenida 115 and ISSSTE roads, upgrades to the second park in Villas del Sol, and enhancements to a women’s shelter.

Funding Breakdown and Strategic Goals

The 423-million-peso allocation will consolidate 22 projects across infrastructure, public spaces, healthcare, social assistance, and security. Funding is distributed as follows:

  • Fortamun: 226,235,710.20 pesos
  • Faismun: 46,500,000 pesos
  • Fiscal resources: 150,900,000 pesos (derived from taxpayer contributions)

This modification advances Mayor Mercado’s pledge to invest 900 million pesos in public infrastructure projects throughout 2025. The session also marked the swearing-in of William Guerra Alpuche, Director of Evaluation and Monitoring, as a new Coplademun member.

Earlier, Coplademun greenlit sectoral, special, and institutional programs under the 2024–2027 Municipal Development Plan.
