Playa del Carmen, Mexico — An Aguakan employee was attacked by a pitbull while conducting meter readings in the Misión de las Flores neighborhood of Playa del Carmen. The incident occurred on the morning of June 18 at the intersection of Lili Avenue and Flor de Anís Street, where the worker was bitten by a pitbull that escaped from a residence with an open gate.
Details of the Attack
According to initial reports, the woman was documenting the meter reading outside the property when the dog suddenly charged at her, biting her arm and leg. The owner of the pitbull intervened, securing the animal back inside the home. At least two other pitbulls were also present on the property.
Emergency Response and Aftermath
Witnesses called emergency services, prompting paramedics from the Mexican Red Cross and municipal police to arrive at the scene. The victim received initial medical attention and remained conscious despite her injuries. An Aguakan supervisor arranged for her transport to a clinic and handled follow-up procedures.
Authorities confirmed that the dog’s owner presented vaccination records but no agreement was reached regarding damages. Neighbors reported that unsupervised dogs in the area are a recurring issue and urged municipal authorities to enforce stricter pet ownership regulations.
As of now, no sanctions against the dog’s owner have been confirmed.
