Exclusive: Mérida Cemetery Videomapping Launch Delayed

An early evening view of a peaceful cemetery illuminated by the remaining twilight, showcasing various grave markers, statues, and crosses against a darkening sky.

Despite the introduction of videomapping displays in various parts of the city, the General Cemetery's show remains unlaunched. The head of the municipality's Culture Department, Irving Berlin Villafaña, has confirmed this delay.

Villafaña has discussed the department's outstanding tasks with mayor-elect Cecilia Patrón Laviada, but they have not yet delved into this particular project due to other pressing matters. However, Villafaña plans to emphasize its importance, hoping for a launch shortly after Laviada assumes office.

Villafaña explained that the only remaining tasks are the assembly of the already available equipment, and the necessary video and audio tests. This includes the hologram system that will "emerge" from the graves. Essentially, everything is ready and just needs to be assembled, tested, and any errors identified and corrected.

The videomapping display at the General Cemetery is expected to contribute significantly to the city's reputation for light shows.
