Pedestrian Killed After Being Hit by Car on Federal Highway 307 in Playa del Carmen

Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo — A man died Sunday night after being hit by a car while trying to cross Federal Highway 307 near the offices of the Lázaro Cárdenas del Río taxi union in Playa del Carmen.

The accident occurred around 8:10 p.m., according to initial reports. The victim attempted to cross the roadway and was struck by a vehicle traveling in the area.

The impact killed the pedestrian instantly, authorities said.

The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and was taken into custody by traffic police officers, who turned him over to the appropriate authorities for further investigation.

Traffic agents cordoned off the area and set up a vehicle control operation while personnel from the State Prosecutor’s Office processed the scene and removed the body.

As of Sunday night, authorities had not confirmed the victim’s identity, and the investigation remained open to determine the circumstances of the accident.
