Mexico City — Senator Anahí González has led the official presentation at the Senate of the Republic of CHICZA ALL NATURAL, the first organic and 100% biodegradable chewing gum made from the latex of the chicozapote tree, sustainably extracted from the Mexican Maya jungle.

During her address, the legislator emphasized that this project reflects "the Mexico that transforms itself from its roots," representing a collective work effort and social organization among Maya communities in Quintana Roo and Campeche.

"This initiative demonstrates that transformation is not a promise, but a reality that is built every day with identity, work, and dignity," stated González.

CHICZA ALL NATURAL holds the Protected Geographical Indication "Maya Chewing Gum from Quintana Roo and Campeche," published in the Diario Oficial de la Federación on October 24, 2024. It also holds the "Hecho en México" certification, granted by the Mexican Institute of Industrial Property on July 11, 2025.

The project brings together more than 1,200 producers, including young people, adults, and seniors, who are dedicated to the responsible harvesting of the chicozapote and to preserving a centuries-old tradition that is now becoming an example of sustainable innovation with cultural roots. Its model fosters a social and solidarity economy, creating a fair and sustainable production chain with direct benefits for local communities.

Among those leading this work are Beatriz Collí Aké and Cecilia del Pilar Pech Perera, chiclera women recognized for their commitment, leadership, and transmission of knowledge to new generations. Their participation strengthens the role of women in sustainable production and demonstrates that prosperity multiplies when it is shared.

Currently, Mexico exports the CHICZA product line to 31 countries, with sustained growth in Europe and the Middle East, consolidating the Maya Jungle as an international reference for sustainable innovation with cultural identity.
