Puerto Aventuras, Quintana Roo — A driver died and two other people were injured late Tuesday when his car careered into highway signage on the Puerto Aventuras-Tulum section of Federal Highway 307.
According to preliminary reports, the crash happened shortly before midnight near the Hotel UNICO on the southbound side of the highway. The driver lost control of his Nissan Versa and struck road signs in the right lane. Poor lighting in the area may have contributed to the accident, officials said.
National Guard officers arrived at the scene to manage traffic and ensure safety while emergency crews attended to the injured. Authorities reported one person dead and two injured, who were taken to receive medical attention.
The victim’s body was later taken to the facilities of the Forensic Medical Service (SEMEFO).
