Playa del Carmen, Mexico — In response to the frequent accidents occurring along Federal Highway 307 near the Hard Rock Riviera Maya hotel, Puerto Aventuras Mayor Gilberto Gómez Martínez has urged authorities to implement immediate safety measures to reduce incidents.

Dangerous Turnaround Identified as Hazard Zone

During his participation in the second session of Playa del Carmen’s Technical Committee for Mobility and Road Safety, Mayor Gómez Martínez highlighted the turnaround located in front of the resort as one of the most hazardous areas. This section is commonly used by drivers to access the town of Puerto Aventuras and the Puerto Maya subdivision.

Raúl Tassinari, Municipal Secretary of Public Safety, noted that the stretch of road falls under federal jurisdiction. He confirmed that a request has already been submitted to municipalize the segment between Playa del Carmen and Puerto Aventuras, allowing for more direct measures to prevent accidents.

Push for Municipal Control to Improve Road Safety

The committee agreed to renew efforts with Mexico’s Secretariat of Infrastructure, Communications, and Transportation (SICT) to expedite the municipalization process. This step is seen as crucial to enhancing road safety in the high-risk area.

No further details were provided regarding specific accident statistics or proposed interventions.
