Puerto Aventuras, Quintana Roo — A new primary school under construction in Puerto Aventuras is expected to be completed in time for the next academic year, according to local education officials.

Félix Teh Cen, director of Education and Libraries in Playa del Carmen, confirmed the timeline for the project, which is being built by the Institute of Educational Physical Infrastructure of Quintana Roo (Ifeqroo). The first phase of construction, costing 14.245 million pesos, includes an administrative area, one classroom, a perimeter fence, a civic plaza, and restrooms.

The school is located at the intersection of Caoba and Cedro streets in the center of the community.

Teh Cen noted that construction has made significant progress, with at least three classrooms already built. This will help meet educational demand in the area.

He also highlighted ongoing expectations for an announcement from state or federal authorities regarding the construction of a high school in the community, citing existing need.

Teh Cen referenced President Claudia Sheinbaum’s recent announcement of a CECyTE school in Playa del Carmen, which could help address regional educational demand.

He expressed confidence that the high school project in Puerto Aventuras could be realized in the near future.
