Cancún, Quintana Roo — Residents in Cancún’s Colonia Colosio neighborhood detained a man accused of indecent exposure on a public street after a woman reported seeing him engage in inappropriate behavior while a child was nearby.
The incident occurred on Calle 62 between Avenidas 35 and 40. The woman, alarmed by the man’s actions, called for help from other neighbors, who quickly arrived and prevented him from leaving the area.
Witnesses said several citizens intercepted and restrained the man while waiting for authorities to arrive. During the struggle, the accused sustained injuries, reportedly from trying to free himself and from the neighbors’ intervention.
Municipal police officers arrived minutes later, took control of the situation, and secured the individual. They transported him for processing and provided guidance to the child’s mother on how to file a formal complaint with the appropriate authorities.
The area remained under surveillance as officers collected information and testimonies from those present. Authorities reminded the public that any incident threatening a minor’s safety should be reported immediately to emergency services, and that people should avoid taking justice into their own hands to prevent risks to others or legal liabilities.
The case is now with the relevant agencies, which will determine the detainee’s legal status as the investigation progresses.
