A nationwide vaccination campaign against influenza and COVID-19 began across the country, running from October 13, 2025, to April 3, 2026, with the objective of reducing the impact of respiratory infections during the winter season.
The Secretary of Health specified that the campaign will be conducted simultaneously in clinics and hospitals across all three levels of government. The priority will be the vaccination of girls and boys under five years of age, older adults, pregnant women, medical personnel, and people with chronic illnesses.
For influenza, the inactivated tetravalent vaccine will be administered, which protects against the A and B strains expected to be in highest circulation this winter. For COVID-19, the updated formulas Spikevax LP.8.1 from Moderna and Comirnaty LP.8.1 from Pfizer/BioNTech will be used.
Both vaccines can be administered simultaneously and are aimed at preventing severe cases of respiratory illness. The federal agency emphasized that timely vaccination is an essential tool for reducing hospitalizations and deaths from respiratory infections, and it urged the population to visit health centers from the first weeks of the campaign.
