Cozumel, Mexico — The Museum of the Island is preparing to host an international exhibition dedicated to Fred Martin, a French artist recognized for his work with natural materials and his poetic perspective on the connection between humans and nature.
Fred Martin and His Dialogue with Nature
The exhibition “Born from the Soil: Nés de la Terre” consolidates the venue as a key space for contemporary art in Cozumel.
From the first tour, visitors immerse themselves in the creative universe of Fred Martin, whose ephemeral works—conceived to transform and disappear—survive through photography as visual memory.
The exhibition brings together pieces created in situ in various countries, accompanied by drawings and sketches that reveal the author’s creative process.
A graduate of the École des Beaux-Arts de Tourcoing, Fred Martin works with earth, wood, branches, and stone to explore the passage of time and the relationship between matter and territory. His images function as testimony to artistic interventions that privilege the organic and the transitory.
