Cancún, Mexico — The State Attorney General’s Office (FGE) announced that eight men, including an active-duty municipal police officer, have been formally charged in separate domestic violence cases across the municipalities of Benito Juárez, Playa del Carmen, and Othón P. Blanco.
Cases in Benito Juárez
Juan Manuel “N,” a member of the Cancún Municipal Police, was charged with domestic violence against his partner following a physical altercation in Supermanzana 259. A judge ordered him held in pretrial detention.
Two additional suspects in Benito Juárez—Mauricio “N” and Hilario “N”—were arrested by the Secretary of Citizen Security and similarly charged with assaulting their partners.
Playa del Carmen Incidents
In Playa del Carmen’s Villas del Sol neighborhood, Erick David “N” allegedly entered his ex-partner’s workplace, confronted her for attending a social event, and physically and verbally assaulted her while destroying two cell phones.
Carlos “N” and Manuel Felipe “N” were also charged in the same municipality for physical and verbal abuse against their partners.
Othón P. Blanco Charges
Antonio “N” faced charges for psychological and verbal abuse, including threats to take custody of his shared child from his ex-partner. In a separate case, Luis Alberto “N” was accused of repeated physical and verbal attacks in the Juan Sarabia community.
Judicial Measures
Mauricio “N,” Hilario “N,” Carlos “N,” and Erick David “N” were remanded to pretrial detention pending further proceedings.
The FGE reaffirmed its commitment to combating gender-based violence, stating, “No one is above the law in ensuring a life free of violence for women, girls, and adolescents.”
