TULUM — In response to recent publications regarding a supposed infestation of wood-boring beetles at the Mundo Maya Tulum Hotel, Grupo Mundo Maya has issued a clarification asserting that the tourist complex is completely free of pests.

Grupo Mundo Maya, the company that administers the hotel, detailed that an infestation of this nature was detected in October 2024 and was immediately contained. It was fully eradicated by February 2025 thanks to a professional intervention that complied with strict environmental and sanitation standards.

The company explained that the public tender process referenced in the news reports is not for combating an active pest problem. Instead, it is part of a new and robust preventive pest control program, which has been implemented as a regular maintenance measure for the conservation of the property and to prevent future damage.

According to the company, the Mundo Maya Tulum Hotel continues to operate normally, providing a safe and quality service to its visitors. As of now, no active pest infestation exists within its facilities.

With this clarification, the company seeks to reaffirm its commitment to transparency in the management of its resources, the safety of its guests, and the protection of the natural and environmental heritage of the region.
