Cancún, Mexico — Mototaxistas in Cancún, with the help of residents from Region 260, captured and shaved the head of a young woman known as "the taxi robber," who is accused of committing numerous thefts against drivers and even taxi drivers and pedestrians.
According to preliminary information, the events occurred around 5:00 p.m. when mototaxistas working in the Prado Norte subdivision in the aforementioned region captured the young woman after she committed a robbery along with an accomplice, who reportedly managed to escape. In fact, people in the area accuse her not only of committing robberies against mototaxistas and "martillos" (informal taxis), but also against residents of Prado Norte.
Faced with this, and once the young woman fell into the hands of the drivers near avenue 3 of the subdivision, neighbors in the area joined together to restrain her and tie her up, fearing she would escape again.
"The taxi robber," approximately 20 years old, was in the possession of the neighbors and drivers for almost an hour. They assaulted her, hitting her, and some even threatened to lynch her. However, with the presence of the police, tempers calmed, but not before the aggrieved parties shaved her head.
Police Intervention and Aftermath
When police reinforcements arrived, the young woman was lying on a sidewalk, crying and complaining about the blows she suffered at the hands of the crowd. Furthermore, the people nearly prevented the young woman from being treated by paramedics from a basic emergency ambulance belonging to the police themselves, asserting that once she received attention she would be released.
In the end, the authorities controlled the situation, and the young woman was taken to the General Hospital. Regarding the young woman's accomplices, there is still no information on the search for them among the streets of the Prado Norte subdivision in Cancún.
