Cancun, Quintana Roo — A motorcyclist died Saturday night after losing control on the Arco Vial highway, and his partner was allowed to say a tearful goodbye at the scene, authorities said.
The accident occurred around 8:30 p.m. near Supermanzana 260, in the Real Valencia neighborhood. The man, approximately 40 years old, was riding a black Yamaha FZ motorcycle from Miguel Hidalgo Avenue toward Niños Héroes when he apparently lost control due to excessive speed and a poor maneuver, according to witnesses.
The motorcycle skidded several meters before coming to rest on the median. Paramedics and traffic officers who responded to the 911 call found the man already dead, apparently from a skull fracture.
Police cordoned off the area to preserve evidence. When the man’s partner arrived, visibly distraught, she asked to approach the body to say goodbye. Officials allowed her to do so, and she gave the deceased a farewell kiss in a heartbreaking scene.
Investigators from the State Prosecutor’s Office later removed the body and transported it to the forensic medical service. The motorcycle was seized and taken to an impound lot.
Authorities said they will review footage from C5 security cameras to determine the exact cause of the crash.
