Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo — A motorcyclist died after crashing into a tractor-trailer on Playa del Carmen Boulevard, leaving him trapped beneath the vehicle’s wheels, authorities said.
The crash occurred near Calle Caracola and Universidad Vizcaya. The rider was traveling south to north in the left lane when he attempted to pass another vehicle, according to preliminary reports. He veered to the right and struck the middle-left side of the trailer’s box, which was in the right lane and heading in the same direction.
After the impact, the motorcyclist lost control and skidded on his right side, ending up under the trailer. Witnesses said he was initially conscious and moving, but he died within seconds due to the severity of his injuries.
Paramedics arrived minutes later and tried to assist him, but he had no vital signs, officials said. State investigators responded to the scene to determine exactly how the fatal accident occurred.
