Playa del Carmen, Mexico — A collision between a motorcycle and a taxi at a central intersection injured one person and caused significant traffic disruptions on Monday morning.
The accident occurred at the intersection of Avenida 35 and Calle 6 Bis around mid-morning. Preliminary reports indicate a taxi from the Lázaro Cárdenas del Río union was traveling on Calle 6 Bis when a motorcycle traveling on Avenida 35 struck it.
Witnesses reported the motorcycle appeared to be speeding at the time of impact, which caused substantial damage to both vehicles.
Emergency services responded promptly, with civil protection paramedics arriving to provide initial medical assessment. They determined the injured motorcyclist required urgent hospital care and transported them for specialized medical treatment.
The collision caused traffic congestion in the area for several minutes as emergency personnel worked at the scene and assessed vehicle damage.
Traffic police officers arrived to document the incident, conduct an investigation, and determine responsibility. Officers detained the taxi driver as part of standard procedures to ensure insurance coverage for the material damages.
