Scene of motorcycle collision in Cancún's Los Héroes neighborhood showing emergency response

Cancún, Quintana Roo — Two motorcyclists were injured following a traffic accident recorded on Tuesday afternoon in the Los Héroes subdivision, south of Cancún.

The incident mobilized emergency crews and Transit officers, who responded to attend to the situation and remove the involved vehicles.

What Happened?

The accident occurred around 5:30 p.m. in Supermanzana 223, specifically at the intersection of Juan de la Barrera Street and Centenario Avenue.

At that point, two motorcycles collided head-on, leaving both drivers with various injuries. After the impact, the motorcyclists were thrown and remained lying on the pavement, which generated alarm among neighbors and pedestrians in the area.

How Did the Accident Happen?

According to testimonies gathered at the scene, both motorcyclists were traveling at excessive speed and neither reduced their speed when approaching the intersection.

This lack of precaution caused them to collide directly. After the crash, people who witnessed the accident approached to help them and requested immediate support through the 911 emergency number.

Minutes later, paramedics from a private company arrived, who provided first aid to the injured and stabilized them at the scene before transporting them to the General Hospital for medical evaluation.

Why Did the Incident Occur?

Initial reports indicate that excessive speed and lack of respect for basic road safety measures were the main factors that caused the accident. Transit authorities did not rule out that both drivers may have omitted precautions when arriving at the intersection, considered a high-traffic area.
