Mérida, Yucatán — The Second Control Court of Yucatán has issued one of the harshest sentences in recent state history, condemning Sofía Nidia P.N. to 110 years, two months, and 18 days in prison.
The woman was found guilty for her participation in the crimes of attempted aggravated comparable rape and child trafficking, to the detriment of her own daughter, who was 13 years old at the time of the events that occurred between February and April 2020.
In parallel, José Tomás Priego C., who acted as an accomplice, received a sentence of 98 and a half years in prison for the crime of aggravated comparable rape.
Investigations showed that the mother, using deception, systematically handed over the minor to the subject so that he could commit the assaults at various locations, including a motel in the El Porvenir neighborhood and a property in San Luis Chuburná.
In addition to the lengthy prison sentences, both convicted individuals are required to jointly pay a fine exceeding 760,000 pesos for moral and material damages to the victim.
Additionally, they have been stripped of their political rights and permanently prohibited from approaching the affected minor.
