Morena Unites Three Gubernatorial Aspirants for First Time in Quintana Roo

Felipe Carrillo Puerto, Quintana Roo — For the first time, the National Regeneration Movement (Morena) brought together three of its four gubernatorial aspirants at an informational assembly Saturday morning in Felipe Carrillo Puerto.

The event, held at the Fovissste neighborhood domed facility, was led by state party leader Johana Acosta Conrado and Jorge Sanén Cervantes, president of Morena’s State Council. The venue was packed with supporters.

The presence of Rafael Marín Mollinedo and Eugenio Segura Vázquez drew particular attention, as it marked the first time the two candidates — widely seen as the frontrunners for the nomination — shared a stage.

Also on the dais was Ana Paty Peralta, the mayor of Benito Juárez on leave. Notably absent was Marybel Villegas Canché, another aspirant in the internal process.

Leaders from the Green Party (PVEM) attended, along with Gerardo Rodríguez, state leader of the Labor Party (PT), who accompanied Marín Mollinedo throughout the event. Marín Mollinedo also has the backing of the PT.

The assembly, titled “In Defense of Transformation and National Sovereignty,” was held in Felipe Carrillo Puerto because the municipality is a “bastion of unity for our movement,” Acosta Conrado said.

The unity meeting came one day after the National Elections Committee of Morena, PT, and PVEM launched their first recognition survey of aspirants for state coordination positions in entities with fewer candidates. The survey will help narrow the field to six profiles who will then compete in a final survey to determine the party’s candidate for the 2027 gubernatorial election.
