Morena has activated the internal contest to define who will lead the 11 Municipal Coordinations for the Defense of the Transformation and National Sovereignty in Quintana Roo, with the start of the registration period for candidates. In recent hours, registrations by political actors from at least eight municipalities have been reported.
Under the scheduled calendar, candidate registration will run from October 8 to 18. After that, the party will review the applications and, if necessary, conduct surveys to determine the profiles of those who will assume the municipal coordination positions.
In Tulum, Jorge Portilla Mánica announced his registration as a candidate to head the Municipal Coordination for the Defense of the Transformation and National Sovereignty, and reiterated his determination to continue working for the inhabitants of the municipality.
In Benito Juárez, one of the municipalities where greater internal competition is anticipated because of its political and electoral weight, Pablo Bustamante also made his registration public.
Among the names listed for the race, but whose registration has not yet been confirmed, are Congressman Jorge Sanén Cervantes, Pablo Gutiérrez Fernández, Alberto Batún Chulim and Anahí González Hernández.
In Cozumel, the publicly announced registrations are those of Renán Sánchez Tajonar and Francisco Aguirre Cruz, who seek to participate in the internal process to head the municipal coordination.
Meanwhile, José Aguilar Rodríguez is in Isla Mujeres; Nabil Eljure Terrazas in Othón P. Blanco; and Laureano Coronado Vieira in Bacalar.
In Felipe Carrillo Puerto, the list of candidates mentioned includes Víctor Ventura, Cristina González, María May Esquivel, Petronilo Ucán Chí, Juan Arana Buenfil and José “Chema” Chacón.
Vicente Franco Reyes is listed in Puerto Morelos, while the registrations of Orlando Muñoz and Farid Rentería have been confirmed in Playa del Carmen.
The process is part of Morena’s internal organization to select its municipal representatives in Quintana Roo. The review of registrations and the potential use of surveys will be among the mechanisms used to determine who will lead the coordinating bodies in each of the state’s 11 municipalities.
For now, the names mentioned correspond to candidates whose registrations have been made public on their own social media, so the list could change as the registration period progresses and the party releases official information about the next stages of the procedure.
