In a combined effort, officials from the Secretary of the Navy (Semar) successfully located three fishermen from Tabasco who had previously been reported missing. The fishing boat had left Cancún and was en route to Isla Mujeres when it disappeared. The authorities have unofficially confirmed the crew's location, a result of the diligent search efforts by Semar.
The families of the missing men have expressed their relief and gratitude on social media, celebrating the good news. While specific details about the rescue have not yet been shared, the most crucial information is that the fishermen are safe.
Initial reports suggest that the fishermen embarked on their journey aboard a boat named “Jigging,” aiming for the Arrowsmith Bank in the open sea. After several hours without any contact, worried family members alerted the Port Authority, who commenced the search early in the morning.
In addition to the Tabasco crew, it's believed that an individual from Ciudad del Carmen, Campeche, and the boat's captain, a native of Isla Mujeres, were also on board. This information has not yet been officially confirmed.
The Secretary of the Navy is expected to provide a comprehensive report on the rescue operation soon.
