Tulum, Quintana Roo — The state-owned airline operating under the Mexicana brand has announced that the first commercial flight of its new Embraer aircraft will take place on August 25, with the Tulum International Airport (TQO) serving as the inaugural destination.
According to the official booking website, the flight will depart at 10:00 hours from the Felipe Ángeles International Airport (AIFA) and is scheduled to land in Tulum at 12:55 hours.
Connectivity and Pricing
Ticket sales are already active on the airline's platform, with fares reaching 4,029 pesos, which includes checked baggage of up to 15 kilograms.
The selection of Tulum as the first destination for this new aircraft is part of the federal strategy to consolidate air connectivity to the Riviera Maya. The airport, which was inaugurated in December 2023, aims to establish itself as a key hub for both national and international tourism.
Positioning Strategy
With this flight, Mexicana reinforces its presence in the domestic market, prioritizing routes to strategic and high-demand tourist destinations. The launch of service from AIFA to Tulum also symbolizes the link between two of the most significant infrastructure projects promoted by the current administration.
The incorporation of the Embraer aircraft seeks not only to expand the fleet but also to optimize operations on medium-distance routes, offering greater comfort to passengers and reinforcing competitiveness against established commercial airlines.
