Berlin, Germany — The Mexican Caribbean is participating in the International Tourism Fair ITB Berlin, which runs from March 3 to 5 in the German capital. The event brings together more than 170 countries and attracts over 100,000 tourism professionals worldwide, making it one of the most important gatherings for the global tourism industry.
Quintana Roo aims to strengthen promotion of its 12 tourist destinations, consolidating its presence in key markets and expanding international connectivity. The state delegation includes 10 business owners, three hotel associations representing Tulum; Cancún, Puerto Morelos and Isla Mujeres; and Riviera Maya, along with participation from the municipality of Tulum. The focus is on reinforcing alliances with Germany, one of the most important markets for the state.
“Quintana Roo’s participation in ITB Berlin is essential to continue positioning the Mexican Caribbean as a world-class destination and the global capital of vacations,” said Bernardo Cueto. “Thanks to the vision and leadership of our Governor Mara Lezama, we are strengthening connectivity with direct flights that allow greater accessibility for German tourists, a market that remains in the top ten most important for the state.”
Connectivity remains a key factor for the success of Mexican Caribbean destinations. Air connectivity with Germany is maintained through the Frankfurt-Cancún route, with 12 round-trip flights operated by Condor and Discover Airlines. This not only increases tourist arrivals but also boosts average length of stay and spending, benefiting the state’s tourism, hotel and commercial sectors.
Germany represents more than 160,000 tourists annually to Mexico, with an average spending of $1,399 and an average stay of 11.3 days. More than 254,800 passengers flew to Mexico from Germany, with 49.26% choosing the Mexican Caribbean.
Participation in ITB Berlin also reinforces the Mexican Caribbean’s diversification and international positioning strategy, consolidating its reputation as a preferred destination for tourists worldwide, particularly from the European market, ahead of the upcoming FIFA World Cup this summer.
