Madrid, Spain — During the second day of activities at the International Tourism Fair (FITUR) 2026, Benito Juárez Municipal President Ana Paty Peralta, together with her counterpart from Isla Mujeres, Atenea Gómez Ricalde, announced and invited the international public to participate in “El Cruce,” a recognized swimming competition that connects Cancún with Isla Mujeres.
The Mayor informed that this open water competition will take place from May 15 to 17 and will feature a special edition on March 8 to recognize and strengthen women’s leadership in the sports field.
She also mentioned that people interested in learning more details about this competition can consult all related information about categories and participation requirements through the official website elcruce.mx.
“El Cruce is more than a sports competition, it is an experience that fuses sport, nature, and destination; we are ready to welcome you,” highlighted Ana Paty Peralta.
It is important to mention that this event brings together more than 1,500 swimmers from 28 countries and from the 31 states of the Mexican Republic, which helps project the destination internationally. Additionally, with more than 20 editions held, it has established itself as a benchmark for sports tourism in the Mexican Caribbean.
