Cancún, Quintana Roo — To strengthen the actions carried out by what she termed a "humanist government with a feminist heart" for the protection and preservation of the environment, Governor Mara Lezama Espinosa held a working meeting with the Federal Attorney for Environmental Protection (PROFEPA), Mariana Boy Tamborrell.

Agreements Reached

Among the agreements reached is a pledge to combine efforts against irregular developments and illegal logging. It was also announced that the Secretariat of Environment and Natural Resources (SEMARNAT) has revoked the Environmental Impact Assessment (MIA) for a project that would have led to the construction of a fourth cruise ship pier in Cozumel; this is a result of the joint work of the federal and state governments in favor of the environment.

No Project Above the Environment

The governor stated that "a reef had never before been prioritized over 2 billion pesos," and reiterated that no project is above the environment in Quintana Roo.
