Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo — A man working on the upper level of a residential building in the Colosio neighborhood of Playa del Carmen was hospitalized after falling nearly four meters on Wednesday morning. The incident occurred around 10:00 a.m. on Calle 96, between Avenidas 35 and 30.

Details of the Accident

According to witnesses, the man slipped and fell to the ground after becoming distracted while working. The impact was so severe that neighbors heard the crash and his cries of pain, prompting them to call emergency services.

Police units from the Secretariat of Citizen Security and a private ambulance arrived within minutes. First responders found the man conscious but in severe pain, particularly in his chest, which made breathing difficult. Paramedics assessed his injuries and suspected multiple rib fractures. They immobilized him carefully before transporting him to the nearest hospital.

Authorities Investigate Safety Conditions

Police cordoned off the area and inspected the building to determine whether safety hazards or structural deficiencies contributed to the fall. Authorities are also reviewing whether the worksite met minimum safety standards to prevent such accidents.

As of now, the man’s condition remains undisclosed, though doctors are expected to provide updates in the coming hours.
