Cancún, Quintana Roo — A man was shot inside a home in Cancún’s El Milagro neighborhood on Monday night, prompting a police response and raising suspicions of drug-related violence.
The attack occurred around 7:30 p.m. on Chile Street, near a store known as “Dos Sosa” and approximately two kilometers from José López Portillo Avenue. Neighbors alerted authorities after hearing gunshots, leading to a 911 call.
State police officers and Red Cross paramedics responded to the scene. Medical personnel stabilized the victim before transporting him under police escort to General Hospital in an ambulance.
Authorities cordoned off the area to collect evidence. No arrests have been made in connection with the shooting.
Unofficial reports suggest the incident may be linked to a suspected drug dispute. Preliminary information indicates the victim and his partner have previous arrests for drug-related offenses.
Investigators are working to determine the motive and identify those responsible. The victim’s condition has not been officially updated.
