Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo — A man lost his life on Thursday afternoon after being shot by armed assailants traveling on a motorcycle in the vicinity of the irregular settlement known as In House, in the municipality of Playa del Carmen.
According to preliminary information, the armed attack occurred on Bahía de Tiburones Street, between Lilis and Juárez Avenues, when the aggressors located their target and, without a word, fired at point-blank range multiple times. At least five bullet impacts struck the body of the now deceased man, who fell lifeless onto a dirt road without having the opportunity to seek safety.
Upon hearing the gunshots, neighbors in the area approached the location and, upon realizing the man was seriously injured and lying on the ground, immediately requested the intervention of emergency services via the 911 emergency number. Paramedics arrived minutes later and, after assessing the victim, confirmed he no longer had vital signs.
Elements from various police corporations went to the site and proceeded to cordon off the area to preserve the crime scene, preventing the passage of onlookers and safeguarding evidence located at the location.
Subsequently, agents from the Investigative Police and criminal experts from the State Attorney General’s Office arrived to carry out the corresponding procedures.
During the processing of the scene, authorities recovered the body and secured approximately ten spent shell casings, which were packaged as part of the investigation file opened for the crime of intentional homicide.
It is worth noting that this violent incident adds to a series of attacks recently recorded in the same irregular settlement. According to official data, this is the second armed attack occurring in less than 24 hours in the In House area, where two men have lost their lives and one more remains hospitalized due to injuries sustained, which has generated concern among local residents.
The authorities have not reported any arrests; however, they assured that investigations continue to locate those responsible.
