Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo — A man walking near the intersection of 3 Sur Street and 90th Avenue became the victim of a violent robbery that prompted a response from police and emergency services.
According to initial reports, the attack occurred when the victim was walking in the area and a man intercepted him, launching a surprise assault. During the robbery, the attacker not only stole the victim’s belongings but also brutally beat him before fleeing to an unknown location.
Witnesses at the scene said the attacker fled quickly, making immediate apprehension difficult. After receiving the report, officers from the Citizen Security Secretariat (SSC) arrived at the site to verify the situation and provide support to the affected person.
Upon arrival, officers confirmed the citizen had various injuries and requested medical support. Paramedics arrived minutes later and provided prehospital care to the injured man, who had a wound on his left wrist.
Despite the assault, officials reported the citizen’s health condition was not serious, though he remained visibly disoriented after the attack. After being stabilized at the scene, authorities evaluated the need to transport him to a hospital for more detailed assessment.
Police officers implemented an operation in the area with the goal of locating the responsible person; however, no arrests related to the incident have been reported so far.
Neighbors in the area expressed concern about such incidents, noting that insecurity has been increasing and requesting greater police presence to prevent new criminal acts.
