Cancun, Quintana Roo — A man between 25 and 30 years old was found dead Thursday afternoon on a dirt road near the Prado Norte neighborhood in Cancun, with authorities suspecting he was the victim of an execution.
The body was discovered around 2:20 p.m. by passersby who spotted the man lying beside the road and alerted emergency services. Municipal police officers responded to the scene and confirmed the man was deceased, showing apparent signs of violence.
Officers quickly cordoned off the area to preserve the crime scene and prevent onlookers from approaching. The body was found approximately 1.5 kilometers from Prado Norte, along a little-traveled route connecting to the town of Francisco May.
Investigative police agents arrived and began initial procedures while awaiting forensic specialists from the State Prosecutor’s Office. Criminalists later processed the scene, collected evidence, and transported the body to the Forensic Medical Service for an autopsy.
Authorities have opened an investigation to determine the victim’s identity and the exact cause of death.
