TULUM — A man was executed by gunfire in the Yaax Tulum neighborhood, sustaining at least six gunshot wounds that caused his immediate death.

Alarmed by the sound of multiple gunshots, neighbors alerted the authorities. Municipal Police officers and paramedics immediately responded to the location, where they confirmed the death of the man lying on the public street.

The site was cordoned off to preserve the scene while personnel from the State Attorney General's Office (FGE) conducted the body removal and collected several spent shell casings that were scattered on the ground.

Witnesses indicated that the perpetrators fled on a motorcycle after firing repeatedly. Although a search operation was implemented in the area, no arrests were reported.

Authorities are investigating the case as a premeditated homicide and are analyzing whether this attack is related to other violent incidents that have occurred recently in the municipality.

This crime adds to a wave of executions recorded in Tulum in recent weeks, which has provoked fear among residents and demands for greater security in the peripheral neighborhoods.

The body was transferred to the Forensic Medical Service (Semefo) for an autopsy and official identification, while the FGE continues with the investigation to locate those responsible and clarify the motive for the attack.
