Man Arrested with 39 Bags of Suspected Marijuana in Puerto Juárez

Puerto Juárez, Cancún — Police arrested a man in Puerto Juárez, Cancún, after catching him handling multiple bags of suspected marijuana during a patrol on Thursday.

The arrest occurred during a joint security operation involving the Orion Group of the Public Security Department, the Mexican Navy, the Mexican Army, and the National Guard. Officers were patrolling the area when they spotted a man counting plastic bags containing green vegetation.

According to the official report, some bags fell to the ground as the man handled them. When he picked them up and noticed the police, he quickly stuffed everything into his backpack and tried to cross the street to leave the area.

Police caught up with him on the Punta Sam highway near Supermanzana 86 in Puerto Juárez. They explained the reason for the intervention and conducted a preventive search.

During the inspection, officers found 39 ziploc bags containing green herb with characteristics similar to marijuana, along with a green backpack and a blue cell phone.

The suspect was identified as Manuel Jesús “N.” He, along with the suspected drugs and seized items, was handed over to the Specialized Prosecutor’s Office for Combating Drug Trafficking, which will determine his legal status in the coming hours.
