Cancún, Quintana Roo — The city of Cancún will mark its 56th anniversary with a gala celebration headlined by the popular Mexican group Los Ángeles Azules, municipal officials announced. The concert on April 19 will kick off a series of cultural events designed to strengthen local identity and promote cultural tourism.

Mayor Ana Paty Peralta said the anniversary festivities aim to celebrate the community’s history while attracting visitors interested in the destination’s heritage. “We are going to celebrate our 56 years in a big way with a great cultural agenda,” the mayor stated, emphasizing that the goal is for tourists to connect with the city’s values and story.

The official anniversary date is April 20, which officials described as an opportunity to reaffirm Cancún’s status as a leading global tourist destination. The celebration will feature music, dance, and events showcasing what it means to be “proudly from Cancún.”

“There will be much joy, fun, identity, and tradition so people can get to know this city and its values,” Peralta added, noting the anniversary is an inclusive celebration for everyone.

Beyond its famous white-sand beaches and turquoise waters, Cancún seeks to solidify its position as Mexico and Latin America’s top destination by promoting its social richness. The municipal administration aims to use the foundational celebration as an engine for community engagement and international projection.
