Mexico City, Mexico — Lenny Kravitz always enjoys performing in Mexico, as the audience welcomed him with open arms from his first concert here. He recalled this during the press conference for Vive Latino 2026, where he will perform on March 14.
The interpreter of “American Woman” mentioned that, unlike other countries where he debuted in small venues, his first encounter with the national public was at a concert with over 50,000 people.
“My first concert was at the Estadio Azteca, it was a surreal moment for me, I couldn’t understand that so many people were there to see me on my first visit,” he said emotionally via a video call.
The actor also stated that on that same trip he set out to walk the streets and “educate” himself on everything related to Mexico, and from that moment he realized it was a place rich in culture.
When Did Lenny Kravitz First Perform in Mexico?
This show took place in 2002, as part of the promotional tour for his sixth studio album, “Lenny Live,” where, according to journalistic chronicles from that time, he gathered around 55,000 people.
In 2005 he returned to perform at the Palacio de los Deportes, and 13 years later he visited Mexico City, Monterrey, and Guadalajara with the “Raise Vibration Tour.”
“Mexico is one of my favorite places to be and play in the world. The love and loyalty I have received since the beginning of my career has been one of the highlights of my life,” said Lenny Kravitz.
During his visits he is not afraid to go out into the streets, and on different occasions he has been observed strolling. One of the most viralized moments was in 2022 when he was captured in the Mixcoac area.
The four-time Grammy winner added that on these walks he admires both the atmosphere and the aesthetics of the place, and feels at home.
“The architecture is so valuable to me. The fact of coming here to play in Mexico is an honor. The people, the love, the connection, the relationship, I don’t stay still. I go out into the street, I want to be in the culture. I don’t feel like a foreigner, and it’s thanks to the greatness of the people.”
After bringing his “Blue Electric Light” tour to the Palacio de los Deportes in 2024, Lenny Kravitz will return in March within the framework of Vive Latino 2026, to perform alongside figures such as The Smashing Pumpkins, Esteman, Los Fabulosos Cadillacs, and Moenia.
