Latin American Ford Model A Gathering Concludes at Xcaret After Classic Car Caravans

Riviera Maya, Quintana Roo — The Latin American Ford Model A Gathering concluded at Xcaret park after bringing together international collectors and vintage car enthusiasts for classic car exhibitions and tours along Mexico’s Caribbean coast.

For several days, caravans of historic vehicles toured tourist destinations from Cozumel to the Riviera Maya, allowing residents and visitors to appreciate restored automobiles representing a key stage in automotive evolution.

International Caravan Showcases Century-Old Vehicles

The event culminated at Xcaret park after gathering classic car collectors from eight Latin American countries. According to organizer Benjamín de la Peña Mora, founder of Rally Maya México, the caravan showcased vehicles with nearly a century of history.

Argentina led international participation with 25 automobiles, followed by Peru with 12 units and Uruguay with nine. Activities included public exhibitions and tourist tours through various points along the Riviera Maya.

National Meeting Features Restored Classics

Simultaneously, the Seventh National Ford Model A Meeting took place with collectors from 15 Mexican states. Participants presented restored and preserved vehicles with original parts, many nearly one hundred years old.

Mexico City led participation with 40 units, followed by Aguascalientes with 24 and Guanajuato with 22. Quintana Roo registered 14 participants in the exhibition.

Preserving Automotive Heritage

According to the Mexican Federation of Antique and Collectible Automobiles, Mexico has a community dedicated to conserving historic vehicles. Approximately 800 specialists work on restoration, maintenance, and preservation of classic cars, with the national fleet of such vehicles estimated at around 1,500 units.

The Ford Model A remains one of the most representative automobiles for collectors, organizers noted.

Event Boosts Tourism and Automotive Culture

The classic car caravans toured Mexican Caribbean tourist destinations, generating interest among visitors and local residents. Exhibitions allowed appreciation of vehicles considered part of 20th-century technological heritage.

Organizers confirmed the next Latin American Ford Model A Gathering will take place in Brazil, continuing efforts to strengthen tourism and promote preservation of automotive legacy.
